Our Physiotherapists

Colleen McGrath

Colleen qualified with a BSc Physiotherapy from the University of Cape Town in 1988. She worked at Somerset and Princess Alice Orthopaedic Hospitals and various private practice locums in Cape Town for just over 2 years.

In 1991 she moved to the UK. She spent 2 years doing locum agency work in both the NHS national health system and private sector specialising in orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal conditions. Colleen joined the Hampstead Physiotherapy Practice in central London in 1993 and worked there for 15 years. She became a senior partner and combined a clinical and management role. The practice specialises in sports injuries, biomechanics, general orthopaedic conditions and post operative rehabilitation.

In 1996, Colleen obtained a Diploma in Acupuncture run jointly by Nottingham University and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). She is an Advanced Member of the AACP and was also the London representative for the AACP for 4 years. Over the years she have developed a special interest in Acupuncture in Women's Health.

Apart from physiotherapy, Colleen was also involved in the Pilates Foundation and the Belsize Studio in London for a number of years, teaching Anatomy and Biomechanics.

Sarah Pienaar

Sarah qualified with a BSc (Honours) Physiotherapy in 1993 from the University of East London, UK.

She spent 6 years in London working at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, The London Bridge Hospital and St Georges Hospital in Tooting. After a year of travelling she fell in love with a South African and South Africa. She has lived here for the last 10 years and has worked in hospital based Practices in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Since moving to Durban in 2008 she has started her own practice working from home and doing home visits. She specialises in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Women's Health. Her interest in womens health began soon after qualifying in London and seeing the difference simple muscle training could make in the lives of women dealing with post natal Urinary Incontinence.
